| hello all,
well it all started out as a normal day here in the crazy land of Bangladesh. we left our house around eight this morning to begin our hour long journy to gazepor for another day of ministry. about an hour into the bus ride (we are on the public bus with about thirty other Bangladeshis) traffic comes to a halt. we begin to see people running the opposite direction that we are headed. there is a lot of confusion and everyone is shouting and trying to get all the buses to back up. this is pretty much impossible here because there is absolutely no order to the traffic so everyone just ends up crashing into each other and getting into huge fights. my team decides that we should exit the bus since everyone around us is getting off and running the opposite direction. I am not really that worried because I always feel safe here and I trust our contacts to take care of us. our contact kelzar tells us that there is a huge labor protest going on and that we need to hurry up and get off the main road. se we are walking to the nearest turn off and i am still thinking hey everything is fine we just need to stay calm. then multiple Bangladeshis began to grab my by the arm and tell me I need to run and that I am not safe. one man grabs my hand and is like you need to get off the main road they will kill you!!!!!! so now weare all running!! we grab a cng driver (which is a car about the size of a golf cart) and all eight of us pile in. the driver is racing away from the main road while all the people around us are saying in Bengali ( our contact translated) get the foreigners away from the protestors. we pull up to an old grage and all these Bengali men come around us trying to help us get away. they offer us seats and sprite and tell us not to wory and that we will be ok. we can see the protestors about a mile down the road from us (they are notcomming down our road though) there are hundreds of them. so we sit in the grage for about an hour and try and make conversation with the people that are surrounding us. one man tells me he is a freedom fighter ( which i dont really know what that means) and that if i ever need help or amin trouble to come to his house and he willtakecare of us. the people here are all so nice they were so concerned for our safety and that we would not be afraid. they were all trying to help us. so we go into some random persons house for about another hour unitll they tell us it is safe to go outside. our contact and some other random Bengali man find us a private car so that we can take the side roads back into Dhaka. we could not take the main road because all the protestors were headed into dhaka. the ride home takes about an hour and a half even though we are only thirty min away.
yeah so it was crazy!!!! I wasnt worried really though just cause I know God is going to keep us safe, but of course we still have to use good sense. even though the protest was not against us or anything (it is just the workers fighting against the terrible work and pay conditions here) we had to be careful because they do demonstrations and bomb and kill people all the time. our contact told us that someone would probably killed in the protest today. the fact that we are white and american does not help much in that situation either. The people were so amazing though they all tried to help us and were so worried about us. so they are not bad or cruel people at all ( i don't want this email to sound like they hate all white people or whatever) its just in a situation like that where emotions are so heated we have to be extra careful. so yeah it was pretty crazy who wouldhave thought that a white girl from edmond oklahoma would be running from protestors in Bangladesh. I sure as heck never would have guessed it!!! so I am safe I am okay dont worry we are complete protected not only by the many kind Bangladeshi people but also by the God of the universe. I love you all talk to you soon!!

| so i have not updated in like three months...yeah i dont really have a lot of time to do much anymore.....
we went to the bus station yesterday and prayed and laied hands on this lil beggar. his leg was missing all he had was a nub that went to his knee. its sick because his parents are probbly the ones that did that to him so he could beg better. as we were praying for him he was really quite and you could just tell Jesus was doing something in his heart even though he could not understand what we were saying. one of the boys on my team picked him up and he just sat there with a huge smile on his face and his arms wrapped tightly around stevens neck. there was a huge crowd around us because the crazy foreign people were picking up the dirty lil begger.so i mean who knows what those people were thinking and how Jesus will reveal himself to them through what we did. its all about obedience and love. we also went to a park and handed out candy to all the kids that were selling peanuts and stuff. they were shocked when we gave them the candy.it was adorable they were smiling so big. i have just been realizing more and more about how we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. you never know if something as simple as giving a lil kid candy or smiling at someone is what Jesus will use touch their heart and give them hope. you know i just really love Jesus with all of my heart. he is all that i am, and i also really love people. A lot of the time its not that i would naturally love these people just cant help but love them because i see how broken Jesus is for them, and that break me. | | |
| aloha,
well its really hard to update these cause so much happens in a week here its pretty crazy. I am leaving for Thailand on Monday ill be there for ten days and then in Bangladesh for three months. its going to be intense. its the summer season in Bangladesh right now so it will be 115 degrees every day... oh man that's hot. the girls also have to wear these traditional begali outfits anytime we step out of the room we sleep in. I am so excited though!!!! God is doing so much in my heart and everyone's hearts here....like yesterday we had worship almost all day and the base staff prayed to send us out and my entire dts class was dancing during worship....the base staff joined in after we all started. it was so fun. its just really cool to look back over the past month and see the amount of growth that has taken place in my heart, and excites me to think about how much more I am going to grow over the next three months. I am captivated my Jesus and now everything I do in my life is a result of that. I hope that each of you are learning new things about Jesus and falling deeper in love with him everyday.
A missionary is not someone who crosses the sea but someone who see's the cross.
love,

hello all,
well its been about a month of me being here in Maui!! I am happy, tan, and constantly refreshed by Jesus. we found out our outreach destinations two weeks ago. we have teams going to Bangladesh, Nepal, and Borneo. Our entire dts will be going to Thailand for two weeks before the other places for outreach prep. I am going to Bangladesh with three other girls and five guys...and our two leaders. one of the boys on our team named Steven was born death. a month before he came to dts God opened up his years a lil bit. last week we layed hands on him and God opened up his ears even more!! now he can hear people's voices and music but he does not have his complete hearing yet. we are believing and praying that God will continue to heal his ears. For me the past weeks have been a really sweet time of healing with Jesus. he continues to speak to me and allow me to come to him in my brokenness. its nice that one of the first things we did here was share our testimonies so now everyone knows where I am coming from without me having to explain anything. our teams go on kiros every Tuesday, we just go to different towns around Maui and help with the community or just walk around and minister to people. my town is called makawa it is a lil bit up country from paia (where I live). I made friends with a woman named allana, she believes in Jesus but also is really into new age. Tons if the people in Maui are into new age especially in paia cause it is all hippies. Its been good to be able to talk to allana and develop a friendship with her. Be praying that God will come and meet with and help her to understand the truth....also pray that he will give me the words when I speak to her. its really fun to develop friendships with the locals here. I have made friends with Maurice ( the nicest lil Filipino man ever) Chris from the post office and a much of random hippie store owners. there are so many people who need Jesus, and the only way we are going to reach these people is to sacrifice our pride and time and just show them that we care about who they are. I love it here God is so good and I am excited to see what all he has in store for me over the next five months. Be praying that God will continue to bring us together as a class and that he will also continue to capture my heart for him and direct the steps of my life. Also be praying that God will bring in the rest of my outreach money. I have half of it right now, but I still need about 1000 dollars. I hope all of you are doing wonderful email me back and let me know what's going on in your lives....also if you need prayer for anything I would love to be able to partner along side you in whatever those things may be.
aloha
